When most couples get hitched, they take romantic honeymoons to exotic locales like Hawaii or Tuscany. Then there's Kate Middleton and Prince William, who following their royal wedding, chose to go on a laborious tour of North America. From the raucous rodeos of Calgary to the smog-infested streets of LA, the newly appointed Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have had quite the busy past few months.
July 8: Calgary International Airport, Calgary
As the royal couple finished up their tour of Canada, the newlyweds arrived in Calgary just in time for the city's famed rodeo. While Will and Kate looked completely professional and at ease as they stepped off their private jet, they would later appear completely out of place as they swapped the dinner attire for cowboy hats, jeans, and flannel.
July 9: Santa Barbara Polo Club, Santa Barbara
Though they were thousands of miles away from home, Will and Kate must have felt right at home in Santa Barbara when they arrived at for the city's Polo Challenge. Though the game originates in Persia, it was the British who popularized the sport in the 19th and early 20th century. The Prince didn't disappoint when he hopped on a horse and participated in the match.
July 11: Inner City Arts Youth Project, Los Angeles
From the posh hills of Santa Barbara to the impoverished streets of the Southland, the newlyweds drove down Highway 101 to the city's infamous Skid Row. While that area of town isn't on most tourists to-do lists, the couple wasn't there to take in the scenery. Rather, they went to volunteer at a nonprofit academy for youth whose families have been plagued by homelessness.
July 29: The Royal Yacht Brittania, Edinburgh
Leaving North America behind them, the royal couple returned to Britain where they showed up in Scotland's capital to attend rugby star Mike Tindall's wedding. Also in attendance: Prince Harry, Prince Beatrice (not wearing a hat), and plenty of other important people that wore expensive clothes. The party -- held on a luxury yacht -- went on until 2:45 in the morning.
