"Breaking Dawn" Spends Third Weekend Atop Box Office
Continuing to grasp ahold of the leading position, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" still found itself perched atop the box office over the weekend of December 2-4, 2011.
The Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner starring vampire picture pulled in $5.5 million on Friday and $7.2 million on Saturday while expected to garner a total of $17 million during its third weekend of release.
Situated in the runner-up slot is the family friendly tale "The Muppets," which scored a combines $7.8 million on Friday and Saturday while trending towards an approximate $11 million weekend take.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals were the highly-acclaimed Martin Scorsese film "Hugo" ($7.5 million), followed by the holiday tale "Arthur Christmas" ($7.3 million) and another family-friendly flick in "Happy Feet Two" ($5.8 million).
