Adele Is Top Dog at iTunes
She’s completely taken over the pop music world over the past year, and now Adele has been named to the top of the iTunes world.
The Apple music store named Adele’s album 21 the best-selling of the year, and also awarded her single “Rolling in the Deep” top sales honors.
Additionally, Adele was named the Artist of the Year, making it a true trifecta for the British soul singer.
She told press, "I'm thrilled to top the iTunes album and song charts for 2011 and to be iTunes Artist of the Year is just amazing."
Despite not landing in the Top 10 sales list, Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light garnered the Album of the Year title, to which Dave Grohl replied, "[It’s] an album made in my garage, totally analog to tape, without the help of any computers at all."
As for singles, other top-selling artists included LMFAO, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Cee Lo Green, Pitbull, and Maroon 5.
And in the album department, notable names like Mumford & Sons, Lil Wayne, Kanye West & Jay-Z, Coldplay, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga all scored high.
